Candids only please | Jenn + Jake’s backyard wedding
Jenn and Jake attended high school together and while they never really spoke to one another except for the occasional 'hello' in the halls, they rediscovered their connection eighteen years later.
Today, they live in an old New England home in the very middle of our very great state of Massachusetts. Jake works as a commercial scallop fisherman and Jenn works for an upholstery company. Together they have two daughters who share their creative and adventurous spirits.
Their yard is filled with wildflowers and pollinators and apple trees and some free range chickens. If you look through the trees you might see a horse in the yard next door.
There is a fireplace in their kitchen (my favorite New England house thing) the floors creak, the stairs tilt, and if you stand all the way up straight on the second floor, your head might hit the ceiling.
If I had to draw a house for Jenn and Jake to live in, this would be the one. It’s perfect.
It’s been a long journey for them so it was without surprise that they threw a very sentimental and and fun party right in the meadow behind their home. They were married under the apple tree, surrounded by their closest family, friends, and free range chickens.
They felt strongly about only wanting candid wedding photography at their backyard wedding so aside from a timeline of events, I didn’t really have a shot list for this one.
Is it weird to not have a shot list at a wedding? A little. Did I overshoot? Yes. Did I over deliver? Yes. Are they now drowning in photos? Yes, but all good ones so I don’t feel bad.
Congrats to these two and biggest thanks to them for trusting me to do my thing. This was a really sweet backyard wedding with all the summer feels and I was happy to capture it.
I’ve got a lot of favorites, but I did my best to keep it short since the internet is a demanding place! Take a peek at some highlights below.
