Catherine + Pete’s Wedding at The Overbrook House in Bourne, MA
I pulled into the driveway at The Overbrook House in Bourne, MA, and spotted a woman in full rain gear, arranging buckets of flowers by the roadside.
Maybe the florist? No.
It was Catherine, out there in her tall rain boots and parka, quietly setting things up before anyone else arrived.
She waved me up to the house, where I found Pete, standing under an umbrella, his face tight with worry over the weather.
The rain had been relentless all morning, and they were caught trying to decide if the ceremony could still happen outside.
Still unsure, they each headed back to their own spaces to get ready.
They’d been at The Overbrook House all week, working to get everything just right for the celebration. It was early spring, and Pete had been the first to take a dip in the outdoor pool, braving the cold water for the season’s first swim.
Catherine sat down for a quiet moment, her peanut butter and jelly sandwich placed just right beside a frisbee by her bed.
The rain eased up just long enough for them to make it work.
“I can hear the birds,” Catherine noted. “The rain must be over.”
Catherine and Pete, both in the medical field, have this undeniable spirit for exploration. Catherine’s got a real gift with a camera, and Pete’s background in filmmaking brings its own kind of magic. But more than that, they’re just genuinely kind people.

Of course, their wedding had that same friendly, "let’s hang out in the woods and dance" vibe. The Overbrook House is a real gem of a place.
Nestled deep in the woods of Cape Cod—guests hiked down paths lit by twinkling lights to dancing cabins, lounged in the yard, or watched fireflies by the brook. It was truly something else.
